Frequently asked questions
Which dry block calibrator range do I need for Pt100 sensors?
Match the calibrator range to the temperatures your Pt100 sensors actually work at. For refrigeration, cold-chain and HVAC sensors that is usually the VM2550-160B (-35 to 160°C) or the dual-zone VM2550-160C (-45 to 160°C); for process sensors up to 600°C choose the VM2550-660, and for furnace and high-temperature work the VM2550-1210 (100 to 1210°C).
Can the VM2550 calibrate temperature transmitters?
Yes. The VM2550 provides the stable temperature field; place the transmitter's sensor in the insert block and compare the transmitter output against the block temperature shown on the 0.001°C resolution display.
How fast does the VM2550-660 heat to 660°C?
About 18 minutes from 30°C to 660°C, with a stabilisation time of about 10 minutes. Cooling from 660°C to 100°C takes about 32 minutes.
Is the VM2550 suitable for shipboard use?
Yes. The units weigh 7.5 to 9 kg with a handle, run on 110 V or 220 V AC, and are widely used for checking engine-room temperature sensors and transmitters during onboard calibration and dry-dock service.
What is the difference between the VM2550-160B and VM2550-160C?
The 160B covers -35 to 160°C with a single zone. The 160C reaches lower, -45 to 160°C, and uses dual-zone control — two separately controlled sections that give a better axial temperature field along the sensor.
